Careers in Microbial Sciences Speakers Program
Explore Your Career Options in Microbial Sciences
The Careers in Microbial Sciences Speakers Program offers speakers near you to address your student group about non-academic careers. Got questions about
- How to get that job?
- What is the day-to-day worklife for specific careers?
- What to do immediately after graduation?
This program offers ASM members who would love to share this information with ASM Student Chapters or ASM Branches!
Primarily oriented toward career options that do not necessarily require doctoral degrees and/or work at universities, the program features over 100 experts in different areas of microbial sciences who are eager to talk to you about their dynamic careers. Learn from from speakers who have contributed to microbiome projects and biosecurity planning and chat with outbreak responders about curious cases!
The program was conceived to provide Student Chapters and Branches with ASM speakers physically located near you to provide in-person presentations. Options are also available for remote presentations.
Schedule a Speaker Near You for Your Group
- Use the Directory to find speakers of interest that can present remotely. Each speaker has submitted a profile with information about his/her experience in microbiology and career path.
- Email studentchapters@asmusa.org with 3 possible dates and times and ASM will contact the speaker to confirm availability.
- Once the presentation has been scheduled work directly with the speaker to finalize the event’s specifics (e.g., address of where the presentation will be held, AV needs, and number of expected attendees).
- There is no cost to the chapter but you will be asked to complete a post-presentation survey.
Please note that the Careers in Microbial Sciences program is only for ASM Student Chapters or Branches.
