Dr. Betsy M. Martínez-Vaz is Professor of Biology and the Director of the Biochemistry Program at Hamline University in Saint Paul, Minn. Martínez-Vaz holds a Ph.D. in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology from the University of Minnesota and a B.S. in Chemistry from Universidad del Turabo, Puerto Rico. She teaches courses in biochemistry, microbiology, public health and virology. She has successfully mentored numerous students and faculty, both domestic and international, and is committed to creating an enjoyable learning environment that encourages curiosity for science and its application to daily life.  Martínez-Vaz is an active member of the American Society for °®¶¹´«Ã½, the American Society for Biochemistry and Molecular Biology and a section editor for the Journal of °®¶¹´«Ã½ and Biology Education (JMBE).
