Anthony Bonacolta is a second year Ph.D. student in the Marine Biology and Ecology (MBE) Program at the University of Miami’s Rosenstiel School of Marine and Atmospheric Science (RSMAS). He studies the cellular biology of the coral holobiont and the phylogenetics of Suessiales under Dr. Javier del Campo. He grew up in Lehigh Acres, Fl. and attended the University of Miami for undergrad where he double-majored in Marine Science and °®¶¹´«Ã½ & Immunology. He was a National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) Ernest F. Hollings Scholar during undergrad, where he performed microbial source tracking and 16rRNA metabarcoding research on coral reefs around the world. He is currently a student member of the RSMAS MBE Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Taskforce where he focuses on seeking DEI solutions at the department level.
