Brian Gentry, Ph.D., received his Doctor of Philosophy in pharmacology from the University of Michigan Medical School in 2006. Following his post-doc fellowship at the University of Michigan College of Pharmacy, Gentry accepted an assistant professor faculty position at the Drake University College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences (promoted to associate professor in 2016 and to full professor in 2022). His primary teaching responsibility is immune system and infectious disease pharmacology—taught to both professional pharmacy students and upper-level undergraduates.

During his tenure at Drake University, Gentry completed the ASM-Burroughs Welcome Fellowship for Science Teaching (2012-13), the ASM Biology Scholars Assessment Residency (2014-15), the ASM Biology Scholars Research Workshop (2016) and the AACP Fall Institutes on the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (2017). In addition, Gentry served as a member of the abstract review team for ASMCUE (2016, 2017) and was chair of the poster abstract review team for ASMCUE (2018). His research interests include determining the mechanism of action of novel anti-viral agents and the development of instructional pedagogies that improve the competency of pharmacy students before entering professional practice.
