Gustavo Goldman, Ph.D.

Dr. Goldman was born in Rio de Janeiro. He received a bachelor's degree in Biology from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro and a master's degree in °®¶¹´«Ã½ from the University of São Paulo. He went on to earn a Ph.D. in Molecular Biology from the University of Gent, Belgium, and was a postdoctoral fellow at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey.
Goldman has been a full professor at the Faculdade de Ciências Farmacêuticas de Ribeirão Preto, University of São Paulo since 1994 and serves as President of the Brazilian Society of °®¶¹´«Ã½ for 2020-2021. He has been a Researcher 1A of the Conselho Nacional de Desenvolvimento CientÃfico e Tecnológico (CNPq), Brazil, since 1994.
His experience is in genetics, with emphasis on molecular genetics of fungi, working mainly on signal transduction in the human pathogen Aspergillus fumigatus and characterization of carbon catabolite repression and the activation of the CreA transcription factor in Aspergillus nidulans. He is Visiting Professor at the Escola de Saúde, University of Minho and ITQB, Universidade Nova de Lisboa and Adjoint Professor of the Center for Latin America Studies, Vanderbilt University. He is a former fellow of the John Simon Guggenheim Memorial Foundation and serves as Chief Editor of the journal Frontiers in Fungal Biology and Associate Editor for mBio, Fungal Genetics and Biology and Fungal Biology.
