Jillian Walton

Jillian Walton is a microbiology Ph.D. candidate at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. She is the founder of the Knoxville-Tennessee Environmental Soil and Stream Testing (K-TESST) program. This citizen-science program educates area residents about soil and water quality, empowering them to engage with science through educational events, and offers free soil and water quality testing kits. She is also a Howard Hughes Medical Institute Gilliam Fellow. Walton was awarded ASM’s 2023 Brad Fenwick Fellowship for the Advancement of Civic Science, and she serves as the American Society for °®¶¹´«Ã½ Young Ambassador for Tennessee.
