Radu Botgros, M.D., is an infectious diseases specialist who is a senior scientific officer for the Office of Health Threats and Vaccines Strategy at the European Medicines Agency (EMA).
He worked as an ID clinician for 10 years before joining the EMA in 2009 as a scientific administrator in the pediatric team. From there, he moved to the Anti-Infectives and Vaccines team. He worked with the efficacy and safety-related pre- and post-authorization aspects of centralized marketing authorization applications for treating and preventing infectious diseases. Since March 2020, he has been a Health Threats and Vaccines Strategy team member. His main interests are antibacterial, antifungal and antiviral medicines and AMR. He is currently leading AMR activities on the human side at the EMA.
