Sumati Nambiar, M.D., MPH, is a senior director in the Child Health Innovation and Leadership Department (CHILD) at Johnson & Johnson. In this role, Nambiar provides scientific and regulatory expertise for the development of anti-infective products and vaccines for the pediatric population. Nambiar is board-certified in pediatrics and pediatric infectious diseases, is a fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics and has over 20 years of experience in drug development and regulatory science.
Before joining Johnson & Johnson, Nambiar worked at the U.S. Food and Drug Administration for 22 years in various capacities, including 8 years as Director, Division of Anti-Infectives. Nambiar trained and worked as a pediatrician in India prior to moving to the U.S. She completed her residency in pediatrics, including a year as chief resident at Inova Fairfax Hospital for Children in Virginia and a fellowship in pediatric infectious diseases at Children’s National Hospital, Washington D.C. She earned a master’s degree in public health, epidemiology track from the George Washington University School of Public Health.
