Yvette S. McCarter, Ph.D., D(ABMM), is a professor of pathology and laboratory medicine at the University of Florida College of Medicine-Jacksonville and the Director of Clinical °®¶¹´«Ã½ at University of Florida Health Jacksonville in Jacksonville, Fla. She received her doctorate in clinical microbiology from the Medical College of Virginia and completed postdoctoral fellowship training in public jealth and medical microbiology at Hartford Hospital under the direction of Raymond Bartlett, M.D. McCarter is a Diplomate of the American Board of Medical °®¶¹´«Ã½.  

McCarter is a member of the American Society for °®¶¹´«Ã½ (ASM), the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) and is a fellow of the Association of Clinical Scientists. She is currently a Co-Director for the First Coast Infectious Disease/Clinical °®¶¹´«Ã½ Symposium and Co-Chair of the American Society for °®¶¹´«Ã½ Microbe Program Committee. She is the °®¶¹´«Ã½ Associate Editor for Lab Medicine and currently serves on the ASCP LabQ Editorial Board. McCarter has previously served as the Chair of the American Board of Medical °®¶¹´«Ã½ and has been a member of the Laboratory Standards Development Technical Advisory Panel of The Joint Commission, the Healthcare Infection Control Practices Advisory Committee (HICPAC) of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the Florida Board of Clinical Laboratory Personnel. She also serves on the editorial board of several scholarly journals and is an ad hoc reviewer for several others. 

McCarter’s research interests include utilization controls in the Clinical °®¶¹´«Ã½ Laboratory, cost-effective laboratory medicine and the evaluation of new diagnostic tests and antimicrobials.
