New Editors-in-Chief Announced for ASM’s Antimicrobial Agents and Chemotherapy and °®¶¹´«Ã½ and Molecular Biology Reviews
Washington, D.C. – April 14, 2020 – ASM is excited to announce Dr. Cesar Arias as the new Editor-in-Chief of and Dr. Corrie Detweiler as the new Editor-in-Chief of . Their terms as Editors-in-Chief will begin July 1, 2020.“Following an extensive search process, the members of the ASM Journals Committee are delighted that Drs. Arias and Detweiler have accepted these important positions and will carry forth the excellent work of the outgoing editors, Drs. Louis Rice (AAC) and Dr. Buchmeier (MMBR)” says Dr. Patrick Schloss, chair of the ASM Journals Committee.
Antimicrobial Agents and Chemotherapy is an ASM interdisciplinary journal devoted to the dissemination of knowledge relating to all aspects of antimicrobial and antiparasitic agents and chemotherapy. °®¶¹´«Ã½ and Molecular Biology Reviews publishes reviews dealing with all aspects of microbiology and other fields of concern to microbiologists, such as immunology.
is Professor of Medicine, °®¶¹´«Ã½ and Molecular Genetics at University of Texas Health Science Center (UTHealth), Houston. He holds the Margaret and Herbert Dupont Chair in Infectious Diseases and the Laurel and Robert H. Graham Faculty Fellowship at UTHealth. He is a nationally and internationally recognized expert conducting basic, translational and clinical research on antibiotic resistance. He is the founder director of the Center for Antimicrobial Resistance and Microbial Genomics (CARMiG) at McGovern Medical School and the Center for Infectious Diseases at the UTHealth School of Public Health.
Dr. Arias is an adjunct professor at Universidad El Bosque in Bogota, Colombia and visiting professor at Universidad De Desarrollo/Clinica Alemana in Santiago, Chile. He was inducted to the American Academy of °®¶¹´«Ã½ in 2019 and has served as an AAC editorial board member since 2009 and and Editor since 2014.
is Professor of Molecular, Cellular and Developmental Biology at the University of Colorado at Boulder. The research of Dr. Detweiler focuses on the discovery of chemicals that interfere with bacterial infection. She and her team identified a new niche for the bacterial pathogen, Salmonella, during persistent infection.
Dr. Detweiler has served ASM on the editorial board for Infection & Immunity, as a reviewer for Journal of Bacteriology, AAC and mBio, and as an editor for MMBR since 2013.
