New ASM President and Leadership Begin Their Terms

°®¶¹´«Ã½ (ASM) welcomes a new president, president-elect and new members of the Board of Directors and the Council on Microbial Sciences (COMS). They begin serving their leadership terms on July 1, 2024. 

Theresa M. Koehler.
Theresa M. Koehler, Ph.D., Chair Emerita for the Department of °®¶¹´«Ã½ and Molecular Genetics at the McGovern Medical School, University of Texas, Houston, will serve as the 2024-2025 ASM President. 





 Alexander McAdam.
Alexander McAdam, M.D., Ph.D., the Director of Infectious Diseases Diagnostic Laboratory and associate professor of pathology at Harvard Medical School, will serve as President-Elect of the Board of Directors. 




Two new board directors, Sue Ishaq, Ph.D., and Frederico Sisti, Ph.D., were elected as at-large board directors. 

Nine new members were elected to ASM’s Council on Microbial Sciences (COMS), the dynamic governance structure that connects ASM members and leaders. Heidi Kaplan, Ph.D., will serve as the chair of COMS, and Michelle Dziejman, Ph.D., will serve as vice chair of COMS. Vaughn Cooper, Ph.D., and Vincent Young, M.D., Ph.D., will serve as COMS-elected board directors.
