New Molecular IQCP Template

ASM, in collaboration with CLSI and CAP, has developed an Individualized Quality Control Plan (IQCP) template for Quality Control (QC) of a commercial cartridge-based molecular test system for detection of a single or multiple targets. Laboratories may consider modifying this template to support their practice. A practical strategy would be to review this example together with materials provided by your manufacturer, your accreditation organization, and CMS when developing your molecular IQCP.

Revised IQCP Templates

ASM, in collaboration with CLSI and CAP, has updated IQCP resources previously posted on ASM’s Clinical °®¶¹´«Ã½ Portal. The revised versions of IQCP templates for clinical microbiology tests include expanded examples of information used to conduct risk assessment and more referencing of lab protocols for evidence of risk mitigation strategies. Additional updated documents include Antimicrobial Susceptibility Testing (AST), as well as updated frequently asked questions and answers about AST IQCP.

These updated protocols are useful for clinical and public health laboratories. Laboratories that are updating or revising their IQCPs may consider adopting the updated templates or may continue to use the prior templates. If a laboratory is writing a new IQCP, the laboratory may consider applying these updated templates. A practical strategy would be to review these examples together with materials provided by your manufacturer, your accreditation organization and CMS when developing your IQCPs.
