This travel award recognizes outstanding research accomplishment and potential of women scientists in Armenia, Albania, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Bosnia, Bulgaria, the Czech Republic, Estonia, Georgia, Hungary, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Latvia, Lithuania, Macedonia, Moldova, Montenegro, Poland, the Republic of Croatia, Romania, Russia, Serbia, the Slovak Republic, Slovenia, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Ukraine and Uzbekistan. The award provides an opportunity to meet new colleagues, network and present research at ASM Microbe 2025.
The award is an endowment, which honors the contributions of Dr. Morrison Rogosa to bacteriology and to ASM.
Program Details
The awardee will receive $3,000 to defray expenses associated with travel to ASM Microbe 2025 and complimentary registration.
Eligibility
To qualify for consideration the applicant must be or provide:
- A current ASM member at the time of application. The applicant must remain an active member throughout the ASM Microbe 2025 meeting.
- Scientific abstract not previously published or presented at another conference.
- Curriculum vitae (CV) including scientific focus area.
- Two letters of nominations on institution letterhead written by the department chair and principal investigator or immediate director.
- Applicant statement providing a brief overview (limit 500 words) of qualifications and how the travel award supports scientific research.
- Not previously a recipient of an ASM Microbe travel award within the last 2 years.
- A woman scientist holding a doctorate degree.
- Currently performing work in microbiology in one of the aforementioned countries.
- Preference will be given to those working in bacteriology, but women in other fields are also eligible.

Travel Awards applications will be open from Monday, Nov. 4-Tuesday, Dec. 3. Applicants will be notified if they are selected to receive an award by Wednesday, Dec. 18.
