The Richard and Mary Finkelstein Student Travel Award

This award provides support for students attending ASM Microbe. Each awardee will present a poster in addition to being invited to give a short presentation of the abstract during the meeting. Only 1 travel award will be granted per laboratory.

Program Details

Recipients will receive a $500 award to defray expenses associated with travel to ASM Microbe 2025 and complimentary registration. 

Eligibility

To qualify for consideration the applicant must be or provide:

  • A at the time of application. The applicant must remain an active member throughout the ASM Microbe 2025 meeting.
  • Scientific abstract not previously published or presented at another conference. 
  • Curriculum vitae (CV) including scientific focus area.
  • Two letters of nominations on institution letterhead written by the department chair and principal investigator or immediate director. 
  • Applicant statement providing a brief overview (limit 500 words) of qualifications and how the travel award supports scientific research.
  • Not previously a recipient of an ASM Microbe travel award within the last 2 years. 
  • An undergraduate or predoctoral student, Ph.D. or M.D. within 2 years of graduation at the time of the meeting or an M.D. in a residency or fellowship program within 6 years of receipt of the M.D. degree at the time of the meeting.

Travel award funds are non-transferable and will be provided following the conclusion of ASM Microbe 2025 upon confirming awardee’s attendance at the meeting.

Travel Awards applications will be open from Monday, Nov. 4-Tuesday, Dec. 3. Applicants will be notified if they are selected to receive an award by Wednesday, Dec. 18.
