Dave Kushner, Ph.D.

Dave Kushner, Ph.D., has been studying viruses since 1992. He received his Ph.D. in cell and molecular biology from University of Pennsylvania and completed a post-doc in virology at University of Wisconsin-Madison. He is professor of biology at Dickinson College, where since 2003 he has taught courses in virology, microbiology, RNA biology, immunology and bioethics.

His research focuses on sequence-structure-function relationships of noncoding viral RNA. With support from the American Society for Virology (ASV), Kushner led the development of curriculum guidelines and learning objectives for virology courses, and from 2023-2026 is serving as Co-Chair of ASV's Education and Career Development Committee.
