Dr. Lawrence Wackett is Distinguished McKnight University Professor in the Department of Biochemistry, Molecular Biology and Biophysics and holds a joint appointment in the Biotechnology Institute, both at the University of Minnesota. Wackett obtained his Ph.D. in °®¶¹´«Ã½ at the University of Texas at Austin working with David Gibson and was a National Institutes of Health Postdoctoral Fellow with Christopher Walsh in the Chemistry Department at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). He joined the faculty at the University of Minnesota and became the Distinguished McKnight Professor of Biochemistry in 2001. He is a Fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science and the American Academy of °®¶¹´«Ã½. Wackett has published more than 250 scientific papers and co-authored the textbook Biocatalysis and Biodegradation published by ASM Press. The book has been translated into Chinese and is now also available from Chemical Industry Press in Beijing.
