Sara Blosser, Ph.D., D(ABMM), is a Diplomate of ASM’s American Board of Medical °®¶¹´«Ã½. She currently serves as the Senior Clinical °®¶¹´«Ã½ advisor for the Office of Laboratory Strategies and Analytics in the Clinical °®¶¹´«Ã½ and Environmental Branch of the CDC. Prior to joining the CDC, she worked as a scientific liaison at Roche Diagnostics in the division of medical and scientific affairs, where she focused on molecular diagnostics and public health. Her love of public health began in earnest while at the Indiana Department of Health Laboratories, where as the director of clinical microbiology she managed the tuberculosis, antimicrobial resistance, bacterial vaccine preventable diseases, CTNG, mycology and assay development-testing groups. During this time, she also chaired the state HAI/AR Committee. During the COVID-19 pandemic, she served as Indiana’s Laboratory Testing Network Program Manager, coordinating all field testing for Indiana’s public-health based initiatives outside of the public health laboratory. She completed a Ph.D. in infectious disease & immunology at Montana State University, with a thesis focusing on antifungal resistance mechanisms in Aspergillus fumigatus. Her clinical microbiology fellowship was conducted at the NIH Clinical Center, under the direction of Drs. Karen Frank and Adrian Zelazny. Her research areas of interest include assay validation, MALDI-TOF MS, molecular diagnostics and antimicrobial resistance.
