Yingying Pu, Ph.D.

State Key Laboratory and Wuhan University

Yingying Pu, Ph.D., earned her B.S. from Shanghai Jiaotong University and her Ph.D. from Peking University. After completing her postdoctoral research at Peking University, she joined the faculty of Wuhan University in 2019. Pu's independent research group employs multidisciplinary approaches to tackle molecular mechanisms underlying the formation of bacterial persister cells, a small subpopulation within bacterial communities that, due to dormancy, can tolerate drugs and lead to chronic and recurrent infections. Her team has uncovered various molecular mechanisms of bacterial persistence, discovered bacterial stress granules and elucidated their role in regulating dormancy and protecting RNA.
