ASM Inclusive Diversity with Equity, Access and Accountability (IDEAA) Committee of the Board
The Inclusive Diversity with Equity, Access and Accountability (IDEAA) Committee of the Board guides the strategic direction of the Society on diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI), recommending to the CEO and the Board of Directors the most optimal structure and coordination for DEI activities to ensure maximum impact.
°®¶¹´«Ã½ Leaders Evolving and Accountable to Progress (MicroBio-LEAP) Task Force
The °®¶¹´«Ã½ Leaders Evolving and Accountable to Progress (MicroBio-LEAP) Task Force functions to drive the success of the grant funded project supported by the National Science Foundation (NSF). The project will encourage leaders in the microbial sciences to embrace and promote inclusive diversity with equity, access and accountability (IDEAA) within the microbial sciences and across the broader science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) community. The MicroBio-LEAP Task Force works in collaboration with the ASM IDEAA Committee to guide and lead this project.
ASM Subcommittee on the Status of Women in °®¶¹´«Ã½ (SSWiM)
The DEI-related subcommittees (SSWiM, SME and SSHEG) lead many of the Society’s programmatic efforts and initiatives dedicated to DEI. Together the IDEAA Committee and DEI-related subcommittees work in unison to ensure IDEAA is elevated, embodied and embraced within ASM and throughout the microbial sciences. SSWiM is committed to focusing on programs, initiatives and projects dedicated to women in microbiology.
ASM Subcommittee on Minority Education (SME)
The DEI-related subcommittees (SSWiM, SME and SSHEG) lead many of the Society’s programmatic efforts and initiatives dedicated to DEI. Together the IDEAA Committee and DEI-related subcommittees work in unison to ensure IDEAA is elevated, embodied and embraced within ASM and throughout the microbial sciences. SME is committed to focusing on education programs, initiatives and projects dedicated to students, trainees and educators from historically underrepresented groups.

The DEI-related subcommittees (SSWiM, SME and SSHEG) lead many of the Society’s programmatic efforts and initiatives dedicated to DEI. Together the IDEAA Committee and DEI-related subcommittees work in unison to ensure IDEAA is elevated, embodied and embraced within ASM and throughout the microbial sciences. SSHEG is committed to focusing on programs, initiatives and projects dedicated to historically excluded groups in microbiology.
